Red Dawn

Directed by John Milius

Third collaboration with John Milius. The first film ever rated PG-13, this Cold War action drama about Soviet and Cuban forces invading a small Colorado town received a taut, muscular score from Poledouris — martial, urgent, and shot through with a mournful patriotism that complemented Milius's visceral filmmaking. The Red Dawn soundtrack was the very first album ever released by Intrada Records, now one of the most respected specialty soundtrack labels.
