The Blue Lagoon

Directed by Randal Kleiser

Poledouris's lush, tropical score for Randal Kleiser's romantic coming-of-age film starring Brooke Shields. The music evokes isolation, warmth, and the slow awakening of adolescent feeling with an orchestral palette of unusual intimacy. It established Poledouris as a composer of lyrical, emotionally direct music, and began a long creative friendship with director Kleiser.
